Will I actually receive ashes from a budgie or a finch?

Yes. Everpaw returns the cremated remains produced, whatever the size of your bird. For a very small bird the amount may be minimal, but what comes back is your bird and only your bird.

Do you cremate large parrots and cockatoos as well?

Yes, from finches through to macaws and large cockatoos. There is no upper or lower size limit, and no weight surcharge applies to birds of any species.

Can you collect my bird from the vet?

Yes. Collection from a vet clinic is as straightforward as from a home. Give us the clinic name at booking and we will arrange it with them.

How much does bird cremation cost in Sydney?

Private cremation starts from $549, covering collection, individual cremation, the included keepsakes and personal return of the ashes. An after-hours pickup is an additional $150. No weight surcharge applies to birds.

Do I get to keep one of my bird's feathers?

Yes. Every bird service includes one of their own feathers presented in a frame, along with a digital sketch of a feather. Both are prepared individually for your bird.

What size urn suits a bird?

For a small pet up to about eight kilograms we suggest an urn of around 500 mL, or 30 cubic inches. Every companion bird sits inside that. It is a capacity guide, and the amount of ash varies with each bird.

How soon can you collect my bird?

You tell us how soon you need us when you book. Same day collection is usual, though a late evening booking may fall to the next day. Timing follows the driver's route.

What if my bird passes late at night?

We answer between 5AM and 9PM, seven days. If it happens outside those hours, keep your bird wrapped somewhere cool and call when we open. An after-hours pickup is an additional $150.

Take your time

Give yourself space before anything else happens. If there are children in the house, this is often the part that matters most.

Keep them comfortable

A soft cloth or a clean tea towel is enough. Lay your bird somewhere cool and quiet, away from direct sun.

How Bird Cremation Works at Everpaw

A bird receives the same service as any other companion in our care. Everpaw arranges it through an independent licensed provider, and looks after your family from the first call onwards.

Gentle Home Collection

You tell us at booking how soon you need us. We collect from home, a vet clinic or an emergency hospital, and we take the time you need.

Your bird is cremated by themselves. Chain of custody records are kept from the moment we collect them through to the moment we bring them back.
