What to Do When Your Guinea Pig Passes at Home
Nothing has to happen straight away. Only a couple of things are worth attending to now.
Take your time
Stay with them as long as you want to. If the family is upset, that matters more right now than any arrangement does.
Keep them cool
A soft cloth or a piece of their fleece bedding is fine. Somewhere cool and out of the sun is best, and sooner is better in summer.

Yes, and it is the only kind we arrange. Your guinea pig is cremated individually, never alongside another animal, and the ashes that come home are only theirs.
Yes. Everpaw returns the cremated remains produced. The amount will be small, and it varies with the individual animal. We say that plainly now rather than let it come as a surprise.
Private cremation starts from $549. That covers collection, individual cremation, the keepsakes listed above and personal delivery of the ashes. An after-hours pickup is an additional $150.
Yes. Whether your guinea pig is at home or still at the clinic, we come to wherever they are. Give us the clinic name at booking.
You tell us how urgently you need collection when you book. Most collections happen the same day. A late evening booking, or a request for the following day, will shift it. Timing also depends on where the driver is.
Yes, and it is included rather than an optional extra. A fur clipping is taken during every service and returned to you in a hessian keepsake bag.
A guinea pig sits within the small pet range, where we suggest an urn holding about 500 mL, or 30 cubic inches. That is a capacity guide rather than a quantity of ash, which varies with each animal.
Guinea pigs are highly social and usually kept in pairs, so a survivor can find the loss hard. Going quiet, hiding and eating less are all reported. If yours stops eating, contact your vet promptly.
